Haridwar
Situated along the holy Ganga, Haridwar is famous for its temples and ghats where pilgrims bathe to relieve themselves of their sins and achieve salvation. Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, translates to “The Gateway to Vishnu”. It earns this name because it is typically the place where pilgrims start their journey to visit a prominent temple of Vishnu – Badrinath.

With the Har-ki-pauri, one of the holiest bathing ghats, Ganga Aarti and several Jain and Hindu temples, it is one of the 4 places to celebrate the Mahakhumb – considered the largest congregation of humans on the planet.
